Learning Styles
In differentiated education, we learn and use student's learning styles to plan our lessons and programs. Students also help with independent and group units of study and themes. We are continuously learning in the Gifted and Talented program!
Understanding your child's learning style can help you communicate and work with them as a parent. Understanding your own learning style and how it communicates with your child is fun and helpful too!

Dr Gardner developed the idea of multiple intelligences, showing that we may demonstrate our abilities in different ways. Students have strengths and talents in some areas and we want to make sure they have outlets to use these. We also want to make sure student's weaker areas and needs are developed too. Gifted students often expect themselves to be perfect at everything. When students learn about their uniqueness, they learn that they don't have to be perfect at everything. This makes it ok to try different things and accept and work with what they are good at and what they can improve. Seeing adults model this helps students learn this too. Gifted and talented classrooms are safe places to express ideas, take risks, ask questions, try new things, and learn!
